Get Involved
Volunteering for CJFE is one of the best ways to get involved in our work! Our staff base is small, so we rely heavily on the work of volunteers in our outreach events and advocacy work. Support from volunteers helps us to raise public awareness of CJFE, and allows us to educate and engage with a wider audience on essential free expression concerns.
Volunteering for CJFE isn’t just to the organization’s benefit – it’s great for you too! The experience offers volunteers valuable advocacy, analytical, and not-for-profit organizational experience instrumental in future education or employment. And, there’s the satisfaction of knowing that you are supporting a great organization on an important issue that impacts Canadians and citizens around the world.
How Can You Get Involved?
CJFE values the work of our volunteers, and we are constantly finding more opportunities for you to get involved with the organization. Volunteering with CJFE might find you spreading the word about the Annual Review of Free Expression around downtown Toronto, staffing the registration table at CJFE’s Annual General Meeting, or even helping staff prepare a funding drive mail out at the offices of CJFE.
Individuals with an interest or expertise in writing and editing can help edit CJFE’s various publications, as well as write protest letters and spotlight features for the website. Those with photography or video expertise can help to document CJFE’s events, and help to create additional promotional materials. Volunteers with a background in translation, willing to be involved on an on-call basis, are always welcome.
